SAIWI joined efforts with International Development Missions (IDM)
to put on an unbelievably successful African dinner. Several artisans
sold their wares, and many local businesses and organizations
donated items for a silent auction fundraiser. Skola Mutisya,
Chika Acholonu, Deb Stiver, and a few SAIWI students cooked a fantastic
dinner for all of the attendees, over 150 people! After dinner, attendees
were treated to two slide shows and tales of experiences in
Africa.

The menu included three Nigerian dishes: jollof rice and shrimp, chicken wings, and mormoi (made from eggs and black-eyed peas); Kenyan dishes: beef stew, sukuma-wiki (collard greens), irio (vegetable dish), and ugali (a traditional corn-meal accompaniment); chapati (flat-bread); and mandazi (fried dumplings).
