I have also put the syllabus rules (not the schedule) back up in case anybody lost their syllabus. This has all the grading track rules and paper instructions that some people want to clarify.

As promised, here I have pasted the powerpoint instructions from the lecture on Scared Straight. Reflect on these before you come to the study session in preparation for Exam 4. Good luck!
Be able to . . .
Understand the theory of Scared Straight and the evidence used to support it (in methodological terms as well).
Explain its appeal.
Explain how James Finckenauer’s experience in evaluating the program illustrates “obstacles” to research.
Identify the methodological flaws of early Scared Straight ‘evaluations’, what Finckenauer’s evidence suggests and the theoretical flaw of Scared Straight.
Explain how, according to Finckenauer, the program can backfire, and how your instructor evaluations this argument.
It turns out there were still a couple of mistakes on the syllabi: I had not added the dates for the final exam, and I had the dates wrong for section 002 for the classes preceding spring break. I think all this is fixed now. But please re-check the syllabi. Also, if you are in section 002 (meeting tuesdays and thursdays), please note that I had incorrectly listed May 10th (Thursday) as a dead day, but in fact that is the DAY OF THE FINAL--TAKE NOTE!

I also went to the Library website and made a rough scan of the online journals that might be good sources for those of you looking for a journal article as the basis of your project. This list is not exhaustive, and not every journal listed will be packed with suitable articles, but its a start. (I simply cut and pasted the titles from the library's website.)
