EDU 204 - Information Technology in Teaching

Information Technology in Teaching is an introductory course that identifies and illustrates technology applications in education. Students will gain practical skills in using various software packages (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) that have universal application and will use these packages with classroom teaching applications in mind. The most important goal of the course, however, is to have students gain a fundamental understanding of the use of technology in teaching and learning. EDU 204 is a three credit, self-paced program that utilizes the WebCT courseware for administering quizzes, discussions, assignments and coursework. EDU 214 - Preparing Teachers to Use Technology

This course provides an introduction to integrating technology in the classroom. Topics include the Internet and Teacher Productivity Software Applications for educators, integrating multimedia and education software applications, and creating curriculum pages. EDU 214 specifically addresses the electronic portfolio requirements for the professional internship semester in the College of Education. This is a required course fro education majors with the prerequisite being EDU 204. A student may "test out" of EDU 204 by obtaining an 85% or better on a technology quiz available on the EDU 214 & EDU 204 WebCT homepage.
